Imperfect Meditation

Trumpet and Piano

This work is a testament to my daily life as someone with ADHD. While not severely impacting my daily routine, I often find it hard to focus for an extended period of time without becoming distracted. As you can probably imagine, meditation is not my strong suit. This piece is my own interpretation of a meditation that becomes briefly derailed.

The piece begins with a simple melody that serves as a backdrop for a very minimal piano. As we continue to meditate over this melody, the trumpet begins to stray further and further. The chaotic waltz that ensues draws to a sudden close. The melody returns, but this time in minor. The trumpet very quickly returns to its senses and softly rests.
