Collision is a polarizing battle between two different characters. One is chaotic, frantic, and aggressive. The other is calm, reserved, and full of depth. This "Yin-Yang" relationship is explored through the frequent shift between moods and textures. As the chaos gets louder, the calm gets darker, until ultimately one character is overwhelmed and violently silenced. The piece ends with a mourning chorale, devoid of life, expressed by the absence of the flowing lyrical lines heard before.
